Golden Bay Promotion Association Inc |
Highlights of the GBPA committee meeting held on 27th April 2010:
Visitor Guides – This year, we will print 50,000 copies (up from 30,000 last year) of the Visitor Guide and these will be distributed to all i-Sites and other places requesting the Golden Bay brochure. This wider distribution will give advertisers greater coverage for their money. The VGs will be fully funded by advertisers. The generic Heart of the Parks brochure will not be reprinted once the current stock is finished. We will monitor the extra costs to GBPA if they occur and will review the effectiveness of the single brochure this time next year.
NOW IS THE TIME -Montage will be contacting you about your ad in the Visitor Guide. We encourage members to support publication of this well used booklet.
Car stickers – We will print 10,000 car stickers (adhesive for inside of car window) using the new Heart of the Parks logo
The NTT seminar on 20th April had a very good attendance; There were workshops on each of the following areas:
1. Coordinating local promotions
2. Social media update
3. Working with the international travel trade
4. Conference and domestic marketingEach attendee had a chance to participate in any 2 of the above.
Operators were encouraged to ask NTT for assistance required in any of the above areas. Local promoters need to liaise with promoters in nearby towns (e.g. Motueka or Mapua) to get tourists to drive further to GB. Likewise, there was a presentation on ‘Providing visitor information through signage’
4 W.D. access track to the Aorere Gold Fields and Ballroom Cave upgrade project of Reg Turner – Reg confirmed that he may be able to reach his target of $1,000 . However, some of those who have pledged have not yet remitted. (as at 2nd May he still has a shortfall of $300) The association fully supports his project and encourage contributions from members.
Hanging baskets – the hanging baskets are to be taken down next week. The association wishes to thank all volunteers who helped make this project possible.
TDC Annual Plan public consultation in May - Jane has indicated to TDC that GBPA will have a spokesperson to discuss relevant submissions (e.g. support on airport improvements; freedom camping). Sara has agreed to speak on behalf of GBPA.
