Golden Bay, Heart of the Parks
Golden Bay is New Zealand's most diverse and appealing holiday destination. Imagine a region with endless variety, where golden beaches, alpine valleys and tranquil fishing rivers share a close proximity with the sea. Breathtaking scenery, arts and crafts, sporting activities. There's something for everyone.
Golden Bay is nestled into the South Island's north-west corner. A chain of steep and rugged mountains cuts its fertile river plains and valleys from the rest of the island. Unless you're a migrating whale, you don't go past Golden Bay on your way to anywhere.

Beaches, Boating and Fishing in the Bay
Golden Bay must have the best line-up of beaches anywhere in New Zealand. From one end of the Bay to the other, nearly any turn off the main road towards the coast will bring you to a beautiful, safe, sandy beach.
Golden Bay Clubs, Associations, Halls and Sports Facilities

There's something for everyone in Golden Bay. From boating and golf, to drama and dancing, to quilting.
Golden Bay Murals and Mailboxes

Residents of Golden Bay show off their artistic flair by the side of the road. Please email cynthia@goldenbaynz.co.nz with a photo if you have a distinctive mailbox that you'd like to share with us all.
Another artistic addition to Golden Bay's landscape are the various murals on the sides of buildings located from Takaka to Collingwood. Thank you to everyone who has helped in the creation of these beautiful murals .... and who are currently working on new ones. We just love them! Click here to read more...
